Right now Im running a Comp Hydraulic XE 275HL in a 440 with Speedpro 2355 pistons (9.7 comp) and HP exhaust. I used this cam because of the restrictions in the exhaust. The car ran mid 12s through the mufflers with this combo and a 3200 stall convertor and 3.91s. Im putting the 2 inch Proparts headers on the car now so it can breath. I want to go mechanical. The motor has Mopar 1.6 roller rockers on it. I was thinking of the .557 MP or the Racer Brown ST-21. Any thoughts??

with the 1.6's the 557 will be 594 lift minus the lash. Should work good I would think. You'd probably be smart to check and see if you have enough spring pressure for that. With a good tune you might be knocking on the 10's I'd think.

I've use the XE285HL and the XE295Hl in two different motors in my Duster, it ran 11:30s spinning the tires through the muffs and pump gas motor only with the 446 C.I. motor with the XE285HL cam. That motor is 9.46 to 1 comp ratio using the Speed Pro forged six pak pistons and a set of ported 906 heads with 2.14 and 1.81 valves, Eddy RPM intake and a Holley 950 HP The other motor is a 464 C.I., 4.35 bore with a offset ground 440 crank with 3.91 stroke, Diamond custom pistons, 10.46 to 1 comp. ratio, Eddy RPM heads unported and a stock Eddy six pak intake and stock vacume carbs work on, that combination runs high tens with the muffs and air cleaner on motor only on pump gas.BTW, I hate Mopar cams, all of them I have built and raced Mopars for a lot of years, my low deck stroker 518 C.I. pump gas motor runs low tens with a set of ported Eddy RPM heads and a low deck six pak, Comp Cams custom grind solid roller that is 260 @ .050 intake side,266 @ .050 exhaust with right at .700 net lift at the retainers using a set of Harland Sharp 1.6 rockers in my 3450 Lb Duster on M/T ET Street Radials Lots of ways to go, especially on cam selections. BTW I have a freind who used the Comp Cams XS290S in a street pump gas 496 C.I.stroker motor in a 1968 Charger with 3.23 and a 727, it is his wifes car and it runs mid elevens corked up IHTH

The 557 mopar cam should be a good fit for your combo.

I've been happy with my Racer Brown cams. Give Jim a call and tell him what you want to do.

Call Dwayne Porter (PRH, Vermont) and give him ALL the info on your combination. He'll spec & supply a custom COMP Cams grind for you and can assist you w/ making sure you have the correct hardware (springs, etc.) to go w/ it.

You can get his phone # off his user link for "fast68plymouth". I should have it memorized by now, but I guess that's the price of getting old...
