It all depends on the shop, the kit, and the build. Your builder will also have certain "must do" things to prep the block... Some shops think the kits are fine out of the box, some measure and don't accept them as delivered... Find a reputable shop to use and ask them.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

Are you going to include your cost to SHIP the engine across the country, or in the case of 1 reply, ACROSS THE BORDER and back?
Labor charges vary from area to area.

What or who are you talking about ???
And why would he have to "ship" it anywhere, I'm sure there is a good shop or two in Michigan !!!

I'm talking about coming onto a WORLD WIDE FORUM and asking about prices for LABOR, it really doesn't matter that what someone in Finland or the back woods of Arkansas ... or in your case CANADA ... pays for labor unless he is going to SHIP his stuff there if the price is cheaper , which is what he is asking , AS I READ IT.
I would love to be about to pay someone 1200 bucks to precisely machine a block and have it ready to assemble , but I can't find that where I live, if I could I wouldn't be very confident of the outcome due to past experience .
