Just curious as to why they would have different jack hooks 1970 and 1971? I'm asking about the #3424 vs the #1157. Are they the same hooks, just with different #'s?

IIRC, bumper styles on most Mopars changed between 70 and 71. I'm thinking that 70 style bumpers used a jack hook that wrapped around the bottom of the bummper while 71 styles uses a slot in the bumper that the jack hook slid into. My memory is based on the 70 and 71 E bodies I've had, but would assume the change in jack styles may have been the same for all body styles.

, I think that is the case. The early jack hook will work just fine on the later bumpers (duster and valiant up to 72). The late style will only work properly on bumpers with the narrow slots in them.

72 is when they started using the slot style jacks and bumpers on A bodys. 70 & 71 Duster bumpers are pretty much the same, but the jack hooks are different.

So are the jack hooks the same, just with different part #'s ??

The XXX3424 hook is 70-1 Duster only or 67-9 Dart. The XXX1157 is Demon only cause the pin is relocated cause of the Dart front bumper making it shorter but it still fits the rear Duster Bumper....

Thanks for the answer, it makes sense now.

So could a 71 Duster have either jack hook?
