Oh
I have an aluminum hemi head and I am not sure if it's a good head or average head or ???
Any help would be Appreciated on identifying them.
It is a Dual Plug, alum Hemi head, it has a number on it 3614433
and under that it has rev ? , I can't tell the last number but I am thinking it means a revision done on the head from the original design.
Also it has a DXSE 12 towards the lower valve cover rail between the valve and the rail. All the numbers are casted into the head.

All the port openings are square or retangle shaped.
Thanks For any info. I have a couple photos that I need to transfere from my phone yet.
Thanks David

LONG OBSOLETE. nearly all were ported for blower use. under no circumstances consider using them until you have them flowed. blower heads will turn an otherwise potential terror into a pig

Those are the heads I have. If they haven't been excessively ported, they should be good. Mine have been ported a little and the intake ports are 2.06x1.85, maybe that can give you an idea if yours are usable. I'm sorry I don't have ex port dimensions handy.

Edit: mine are Rev D.

Oh
So my hemi heads #3614433 are just alum hemi heads and nothing special??
I plan on using a blower on them with an old mopar alum hemi block that I have.
Also I would like to use both plugs and get a dual dist.
I did have the heads flowed and they flow 331 on the intake side. I don't have the paper so I don't remember at what lift it was at max.

We got a tunnelram with the motor setup for 2 domi carbs but not sure if I will use it. Probably if I run out of money to soon I will. (with the hemi in it I am sure I will run out) Ha ha.
Sorry the photos are to big for here. I will see about downsizing them.
Thanks for the info.
David

Weren't the Ross foundry aluminum heads basically an aluminum version of the 559 head, but with the dual plugs machined? If they aren't ported and flow about the same as an unported 559, that would seem to be right. I'm sure Jeff can port them with his 559 program(s) and boost that by 100 cfm.

i have a set of low mile OE 559 heads in the shop.
with the factory valve and valve job.
on a 4.250 bore......as i recall, they only flowed like 285 @ .500 lift.

i had another set in the shop not too long ago, fresh radius type valve job and bowl blend from Barton, Manley valves......i think they were in the 330's.

i'll check my notes to verify the numbers.

I will see about measuring the ports and compare them to the ones you guys have. I will also look for my flow sheet on them.
My engine guy said with a blower it won't matter what they flow.
It will be forced thru anyways.
Thanks Guys for the info.

I have been told the only disadvantage with these heads is the aluminum is softer than newer castings. I did have some head gasket sealing issues. For use with a blower I would recommend being especially careful with sealing (decks clean and flat, full torque on good new fasteners). Here is a link to the tech archives with the flow numbers for mine: http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/bb/16.html

I found my flow sheet for my 3614433 heads. I don't know what has been done on them as we got them on a trade deal.
Here are the flow #s,
lift Int exh
.200 148.9 133.6
.250 187.9 152.7
.300 220.9 174.4
.350 255.1 189.4
.400 276.9 199.8
.450 296.1 206.4
.500 311.0 210.0
.550 323.0 210.7
.600 331.5 211.8
.650 334.6 210.8
.700 340.7 209.7
.750 346.5 210.8
.800 351.2 209.0
The sheet shows a port area of 3.76 sq in on intake and it shows
3.15 sq in on the exhaust.
So these flowed better then I remembered but not as Good as some of yours. I may need to have them checked out to see if they can be made better/bigger but with a blower app maybe it's not needed.
I have my wedge blocks O-ringed with a copper gasket and they seal Good so I may go that route with the hemi if possible just because of the possibility of getting a blower for it.
Any comments on these is Appreciated.
Thanks David

p.s. these seem like they might be decent for a street/strip 36 ply coupe even if I went N/A. Your Thoughts???

Jeff,
Do you have a CNC program for these heads??
If so what are the max flow #'s when done??
I probably will be going N/A first to get the car running then as money allows get a blower.
Let me know about the CNC stuff Jeff, you can pm me if you want.
Thanks David

I am looking to purchase a late 1966 or early 1968 426 block, crank and rods preferably standard or .030 over bore.

Also, I noticed you have an A990 magnesium intake. Could you please email pictures.

Any parts if available would be helpful.

Thank you,
Ted

The 433 is called the replacement head, aka twin plug head. This was the first aluminum head after the 65 heads. The ports had to be stock for use on 65 cars. Dual plug provisions for pro stock. This head was the everything head for Hemis for a long time, SS, top fuel, boats, pro stock, anybody that wanted to go fast. You buy them and send them to your favorite head porter, Mullins, Diamond, whatever. They are good heads and you can still send them out and have them ported and they will be anything you want. The problem is Edelbrock heads are the deal of the century. (They flow like ported 433 heads.) Edelbrock heads are the same price as ported 433 heads in 1975. Think about that. It's a good time to be a Hemi man.
