How long will a set of valve springs last in a tipical street strip (mostly strip) engine with a solid lifter cam last before they get week? the engine tipicly revs to at least 7000 rpm.?

It depends On many things If it is a street-strip flat(solid or hydraulic lifters, non roller lifters) lifter cam and kit installed properly they(valve springs) should last forever under normal use. I have a solid roller cam and lifters in my street car(1971 Duster) that gets a lot of what some consider abuse, shifting at 7200+ RPM at the track and driving and idling at or below 2500 RPM for substained periods on the street . I had to reshim the valve springs after two years, 100+ runs, 800+ street miles to get them back to 630 Lbs. opened. I did replace them after four years because they had lost 45 lbs at open hieghts, I couldn't shim them again to keep the pressures above 600 lbs. opened at .700 lift so I replaced them Another thing that really helps valve spring life, especially at high RPM, is to groove the cam so the rocker arms oil full time The oil helps control the heat from RPM on the valve springs, heat kills valve springs
