However, ran into a slight snag with the new oil pump and lines hitting the K frame.

I cut as much off as I dared trying to gain clearance for the side inlet

But while it goes in there is no room for the fitting or for the line to reach the the pan.

It looks like I might be able to access the rear port if I was to get rid of the stock mounts and do a little cutting.

The rear port seems to line up where the red circle is

My thoughts were if I cut the mount pads off the k frame where the red lines are

And then weld in a piece of steel to reinforce the gear box mount where I have these arrows

If I do all that it looks like I'll gain the room I need to run this system but then I'll be forced to run a motor plate.

Does anyone see a problem with this or maybe see another possible solution that I haven't thought of yet?

the steering box needs a pretty good brace,i don't know if you are going to get enough bracing in there with the oil line.i would be looking into a street L pipe fitting, then loop line around.

now that the moter is out reinforce the steering bracket and box it up

my manual streering box was moving the bracet over when the car was on the ground

Had the same issue on a 68 charger , ended up fitting a sandwhich plate between block & oil pump , no drain back issues to worry about. , spun this motor to 7500 (megablock).

We used the side port on mine and had to trim the k-frame a bit but it clears fine. Routed the lines over top the mount and steering box.

You will need a 90* elbow off the back of the pump to make this work.

i looped my oil line around the front of the k frame and down to the pan but you vould drill/cut a hole to make the line shorter.you may be able to go streight down with the line thru the k also but with both you must get the line tight on the pump before installing the engine as you will not get the pump out or tighten the line with any ease.i deal with it only taking the engine out every few yrs.i hope it will be that long for you. here is how my line is at pan level.

Earlier K frames must have more room there

I thought about a 90* fitting but can't see it fitting in there.

Do you have a pic of it in the car?

DO they make a 90* O ring fitting or did you piece something together?

Bill, I have the same k-frame as you.

It will fit but you have to grind some scallops out of that bracing. I'm even running power steering on mine....it's tight but it does fit.

What fitting did you use in the pump cover?

Dwayne put the oiling system together so i'm not sure exactly what he used on the back of the pump ?

I don't have any pics of it in the car unfortunately. It took several trial fits to get it just right. I'm using factory rubber biscuit mounts that have been re-inforced so i don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Bill, it's time for one of Andy's 3/8" motor plates

A plate makes life much easier and less stress on the block IMO

I run the dual line system if you need some pics I'll take some even though it's an A Body and cold out

Would this be the right one?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EAR-949012ERL/

Is the dimensions they list for "fitting size 2" the same as a -12?
