Me , i'd go with the Ultradyne.............the earlier that 590 is installed the less top end #s that motor is gonna see , why install on a 100 CL? , surely this is telling you the cam is too big for the motor , installing that cam too early will be fine for the 'seat of the pants' feel , with the comp ratio you're running that 590 will be a dog , much better grinds out there for you're application.

the narrow lsa cams don't need that much compression. the next cam i'm going to try in my mule (10.33:1) is going to be the 590. it will be fine. how do you think the superstock boys run with 10:1 and 290 @ .050? narrow lsa, and a little advanced. i'll probably try it at 102 or so. stay tuned.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

That maybe true to a point , but what you gotta realise is the more that cam is advanced the earlier exhaust valve is opened , not a good call with long duration low comp motors. .............the Ultradyne will make more power across the board than that 590 , will idle a bunch nicer too.

Apples vs. Bananas.... A Super Stock builder couldn't care less how the motor will run at anything other than 5k-7k, and their entire combo is built around that RPM range.

FWIW, three cams I've used w/ different 440 combinations over the years. Every one of these cams is smaller than an MP .590" (271 @ .050", 106 LSA).

1. 9.8 CR, ported OEM heads, 3200-stall: 246/246 @.050", .560", 110 LSA ==> 11.7 @ 118 MPH
2. 9.8 CR, ported OEM heads, 4500-stall: 254/254 @.050", .554", 108 LSA ==> 11.0 @ 122 MPH
3. 10.8 CR, MP Stage VI heads, 4500-stall: 266/266 @ .050", .600", 108 LSA ==> 10.5 @ 126 MPH

The car used 4.10s, ran w/ a full exhaust system the whole time, and weighed 3650++ lbs w/ driver.

5-7k? More like 7500-9400

It's obvious you just want people to tell you it's OK to run the .590, regardless of whether it's the right cam or not.

It's not.

Boy, isn't that the truth! This guy had his mind all made up & it didn't matter what anyone say..........and then he consistently whips out the "Cheap" word as well. Give it time, he'll be back posting "why is my car a dog??" But, hey it'll have a wicked idle.

What about the UD 290/.597 cam? 263@.050 and 108CL.
That is what Tim at Bullet recommended for my stock stroke combo: 10.5,RPM heads, Dynamic 9.5, and 4.10. Runs great on the street and has a mean ex lope.

My best so far is 11.58@115 3800lbs Coronet. May be more in it if I knew what I was doing(not much track time....yet).

The best mopar cam for the right combination ever is the old mini express. I wish they still made that
