I have a very low miles 66 Plymouth Belvedere that doesn't appear to have had the instrument cluster taken out before. I have no dash lights & when I roll the headlight switch to try to make them brighter, the only things lit up that get brighter are the red high beam light & both green blinker light indicators that shouldn't be on in the first place without either of the blinkers being on ???? I'm quite stumped & there appears to be no cut wiring behind the cluster. I have a spare headlight switch & get the same results with either switch. Anyone have any ideas on this ????

Try tightening the screws holding the cluster to the dash. That is the ground circuit.

Might be a ground problem. Loosen and tighten the screws attaching it to the sheet metal, that may help.

THANKS GUYS for the ideas on someplace to start looking to try to correct this problem. I'll look into it tomorrow I'll reply back on whether anything changed for the better. If anyone has any other ideas, I would sure like to hear from you on this, as the bearings are just about worn out of my fun meter on this one. I'll get back with any progress tomorrow.

On my 64, I had to physically make a new ground strap for the cluster to get the lights to work properly. It was easy to do, but a real bear to trouble shoot. Once it was installed, it was never a problem again.

Hurray !!!!! I now have dash lights. Thank You very much to those of you who took the time to help me out on this problem. Also a Big Thank You to Moparts for having this forum where people in the know can help out those that get stumped on something. Just in case I have future problems in this area, I would really appreciate the a breakdown of the procedure in making your own ground wire for the instrument cluster lights as mentioned in an earlier reply if you have the time to explain it for me. Thanks Again to all & have a great time at the Mopar Nationals.
