Look i know we all have our likes & dislikes that's ok ** But mopar made a great cam in the 292/509 its a great street cam and with the right heads headers & so on i have seen B-Bodies run mid 11 and still drive around town with full interior so lets hear what you have.! So that is what i am planning on doing to my 1966 plymouth satellite. I have all the right things to make this car scream.! it now has a solid cam from comp i hate it.! ** SO TELL ME YOUR COMBOS WITH THIS 292/509 CAM IN A 440 MOTOR AND HOW IT RUN AT ITS BEST TIMES.! Here is a video of my car.! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLMuETuCen4

easy enough, although low low 12's are probably more like. 10:1 440, ported iron or Alum heads, RPM intake 850DP, Headers, good ingnition system, 3800 stall, good shifting trans and 4.10's should get you really close to 11's and still decent on the street. Advancing the cam can help get you some bottom end as well. Of course better heads, more compression, expensive convert, will help even more.
oh and I had a .030 over 383 11:1, ported 915 heads, 509 cam (straight up), Torker II 750DP, 1 7/8 headers, MSD, 3800 stall 4.56's in a 68 Dart ran 11.86 w/ a very bad trans.

girl down in Shreveport has a nice orange RR w air grabber hood, 440 six pack with the 509 in it, she was running mid 11s on slicks with it.
not sure the rest of the build though...compression, etc. but it was a stock stroke 440, 6pack motor.
**Photobucket sucks**

My 68 Roadrunner had a 440 with 10 to 1 pistons 906 heads with 4 speed and a RPM intake with a Demon Carb and headers. It ran awesome , I loved that set up !!!!!!!!!!! Only problem I had was I wiped out a lobe on it . I would build another just like it and plan on doing just that in a year or so . Dave

Quote:
Advance it 2-4 degree's makes a better idle and better low end
Yes install it at 103 and this cam really responds well (104 to 102)

That's what i am saying i have a solid lift comp cam now i just don't like a solid cam they make more noise than i like. plus my years of racing cars and street cars i just like a hydraulic cam better it seem to be more street friendly.!

Back in the late 70,s Direct Connection did a back to back test with a bracket car between the SSH-44 and the MP 509. The results were SSH-44 1.621 60ft. 11.95, 1/4 @ 115.18 MP 509 1.621 60ft. 11.82, 1/4 @ 116.61 I agree with you that the following MP cams were copies of the designs that Racer brown came up with. If my specs are correct the SSH-44 actually had less duration then the MP 509. Witch, would indeed make it a better street cam then the 509. As far as the 509 goes, it can be a screamer with the right combo, as well as some of the other MP grinds. mike
