Going to do a dual master switchover on a 65 Belvedere.

Car is original (single cylinder master with manual drum brakes.)

Can I reuse the original single master brake rod with a dual master cylinder ?

Thanks !

My friend had problems with this conversion on his 64 Valiant. It was impossible to fully bleed out the air. We had to weld a small section in between the eyelet and the other end of the pushrod. It took a little experimenting to get the right length. There may be adjustable rods to make it easier. Wilwood, Baer, others may know.

eyeball the piston recess depth of the wide shallow groove where the neoprene piece locks in the rod and compare the thickness of the 2 mounting flanges between old/new MC's to see if you need an adjustable pushrod to get the pedal height where it was/you want it.

My 65s has been in for at least 15 years.I use 69 C body masters when I change.I started with a 67 master and drums. When I went discs I used the C body.My kid has the same master on the 62 300 and the 66 Charger. No problems at all.If you go to the aluminum master the rod needs to be longer as you use an adapter.Make sure the rod locks into the rubber insert.Rocky
