What all paperwork will be needed and what will be involved. A friend of mine is looking at a streetrod project in Canada and is wanting to know what will be involved in bringin it back to the US. The seller is trying to tell him since it is a project and don't have title that all will be needed is a Bill of Sale at the border and it will be considered just parts and won't even have to go through Customs. I work for a shipping company and we ship furniture to Canada and that sound pretty far fetched to me. Everything we take across in either direction has to go through customs.

He don't want to go and buy a car and not be able to get it across the border for any reason.

You can bring it in on a bill of sale. If it is NEVER intended for street use it can be imported on a 7501 with "not intended for street use" on it so the DMV can issue paperwork for it. If it is going to be used on the road it has to either meet DOT & EPA standards or be old enough to be exempt.

It will be a street car. It is actually a Coast to Coast 33 Ford Coupe. It is a glass car project.

If it's a 1933 then it is EPA and DOT exempt. That means you can get the 7501 issued with no problems.

Would that need to be filled out and turned in before reaching the border or filled out at the border during crossing. What about duties or fees??
