anyone run solid core wires??

I used to back in the late 80's with my chrome box and didnt notice any problems with them. It seems to me they would deliver maximum spark energy to the plugs (might have to stand for a little static on the radio though)

i use them on both my cars. one car has an orange box the other an FBO box. 0 ohms resistance and won't break. used them for many, many years with points and inductive ignitions with out a hint of problems. solid core wires shouldn't be used with capacitive discharge control boxes.

they give a hotter spark but supposedly would make static on the guys radio in the next lane.I never looked over there to see if there was any discomfort

Supposedly anothjer reason the manufacturer's stopped using was frequency problems with remote detonation of dynamite near blasting areas. We make sets in solid core wiring , also..

i don't know the exact date but probably sometime in the early 60's the feds mandated radio suppression wires on new vehicles. back in the day, late 60's for me, we yanked the suppression wires because they were unreliable and had a lot of resistance. there is some fairly good suppression wire out now that wasn't available 5-10 years ago. i've been making my own wires for over 35yrs; hard habit to break i guess, .
