Hi,

I wasn wondering which Mopar Perf Super Stock Sprinhg would be the best one to buy for a:

71 cuda in full street trim
440 engine with aluminum heads (about 500hp)
4 speed
dana 60

I see that when I look for "Mopar Performance Competition Leaf Springs" on summit I get several differnt springs with different weight ratings, and some are reccomended for automatic transmissions only....so Im not sure about which ones to buy.

Thanks,

Domingo

Total car weight determines the spring choice. So if your car weighs in at 3600,get the 3600 rated spring.Same with trans,in your case you need the 4-speed springs.

Been driving em on the street for years and I back off the pre-load and shock stiffness when street driving and add the desired pre-load and stiffen the shocks at the track.

ok you will see alot of dif opinions on it
yes they will run on the street
BUT you will have to unadjust back them off to do it !!
then go to track put load back in
these are not easy as they will tell
ive run both !!
i will tell you buy the ss springs 3600
and you will be very happy
not that impressed with them on drag car either
they where designed for super stock racer (ford guy) that couldnt get the car to hook with a stock rear these meet ss rules
as anyone on here will tell you even the standard leaf will work on a mopar without slappers and such are they ideal no but they will work!

anyhow for the money diffrence , just my op
alot will say diff you choose
if its a race car put lader on it street car,
either ss spring or good hd spring will work to

That`s a fact........ You don`t HAVE to take out pre-load it`s just a softer ride if you do. If I need a soft ride, I`ll put around in my Ranger......if I want a REAL ride, then it`s the dart. Love it and it hauls a## enuff for me and is a blast on the street.........Different strokes I guess.

Unless you like the feel of a 2x4 stuck in the wheel well youre not going to like the ride
but i really think the original poster will drive alot on street and little at track??
idonno
tell you what just put a snubber under the car ,with it on the floor there is you ride feel

The Cal-trac bars have very little to do with the ride. The shocks is were you will feel the harsh ride.I've put about 25 sets of Cal-Trac's on never had a person complain. But I run nice adjustable shocks on all them.My bet is most run way to much preload and have the spring in a bind so the ride is going to be hard.
Joe Dirt called and said he wants his SS springs back,LOL

mmm shocks
im just stummified
funny i can take the lower bar off, man does it ride good then put the bar back and might has well tie her down with a block no preload
both bars lose
i went all over this with the guys at caltracks
this is a complete system from them monos bars shocks they just said that these are meant for racing not driving on street ,, but could be used
very limited street use , not my words their words lucky it is in a race car,,
but does see a little street stuff
just what i know

My 63 weighs 3700 with me in it and I bought 3400 lb SS from Mancini racing. They came with shackles and U bolts. They sit as you see it and work great. Its a mid 11 car with a best 60 of 1.57 which is not bad for a mid 11 car. And it rides great with them. Ron

Hard to compare a nice shock to the Rancho's.Yes they will work on 80% of most cars.If you have a air gap in the bars they are doing nothing till the rearend wraps the spings.
Sorry to start a pissing contest on this, but for a little bit more money the guy can get a much nicer deal.
And yes over 50% of my installs were on street cars.

You may want to try a lighter weight spring to keep the back end down. I have an E-body set that needed a 2" lowering block to sit level. I now have A Body springs and it sits level. 1.42 60 foot on Hoosiers.

I have had SS springs on my E-body's, and the newer ones are junk. They flaten right out, are uneven side to side, and arch the back on my up too far, by a bunch. Spend the money once and get split mono's and Caltrac's.. I run them on the street with zero gap, and they are perfect for the street. Actually a better ride than any SS springs I have ever had, and they sit level side to side...Not to mention, they are far lighter.
