I was wondering if the reproduction Max Wedge exhausxt manifolds will bolt onto a stock 1962 361, and will there be any collector/exiting issues in a 1962 Dart wagon?.
I am wanting to use mancini racing reproduction exhaust manifolds and a Max Wedge full exhaust system from AEP.
I am Hoping this set up will pretty well bolt on and give a bit more performance over stock.
Thanks in advance.

(1) yes (2) not sure but I would bet that they would as I saw a pic of an RB in a '66 Dart w em & the fit was tight but good/no dimpling (& the RB will have ~3/4" higher V on the port position). They gotta flow very good plus the 3" outlets. How much do they weigh?

Because the 361 heads are lower/narrower than the original 413 the crossover pipe might not fit right.

413's are the red headed stepchildren of the RB family. If you are going to foot the expense of the full MW exhaust system, you can pick up a running 413 for less than you will have in the MW exhaust system and then have a entire upgraded engine for your time and trouble and the exhaust should fit without question.

I have a Maxie exhaust system on my '63 (446" RB, 4-speed) wagon, and I can tell you spark plug access on the right side is a pain in the butt. Looks killer, though. You also need to shield the master cylinder if you go to the later 2-circuit type, and the heater hoses need to be routed further away. There is some wiggle room on the crossover. The e-brake cables also required re-routing, but I used a later rearend with the later cable arrangement.

Also...........Don't forget, no stock location power brake booster will work with MW exhaust manifolds.

Thanks for the info guys! I have been talking with a buddy that owns an exhaust shop across town that thought it was crazy to spend that much and he can do a 3"w/cutouts and turndowns for way less so I think I will go that route with the MW Manifolds.
The car does have Power brakes. . . Am I to assume the MW manifolds will interfear with the Booster even though it is a more narrow 361?

Hope I dont have to scrap the whole Idea, I love the MW look but not a necessity.

Would there be any benifit to bolting on the rebuilt set of '76 440 heads I have. (if only for the hardened valve seats)

I've never tried it with a low deck but it's a pretty safe assumption that you'll run into problems.

There shouldn't be any problem putting MW exhaust on a low deck motor. My oldest brother bought a brand new 64 Fury w/383 and one of the 1st things he did was put a complete MW exhaust on the car. I still remember he would un- cap the cut-outs when street racing, and you could hear the car being shut -off & coasting down the street in the middle of the night, trying to sneak in so our dad wouldn't hear him.

Well I guess I have my answers on the exhaust. I'm not trying to go fast, just a good sounding and running cruiser.
The car is a factory 361 4BBL as stated prior, with p/s, A/C, and p/b. Cool car that has been in storage since 1970.
I thought as I was going to be replacing ALOT I may as well unbolt and upgrade while keeping the #'s correct.

With a few changes, you can still run your A/C.Here is my 62.You may be able to get away with an A body Midland-Ross booster. They are about 8" in diameter but wouldn't bet on it.

I would think that any power booster would put the master cylinder right over the manifold. Hard to see in this pic, but the dual MC is close enough to the manifold that I had to put a baffle under it.
I'm sure someone could build a duplicate of the Maxie exhaust for less than they sell for, if you have the pattern.

Your guys cars sure look good under the hood! I think I;ll stay on the lesser side of modifications and possibly go with a set of '67 and up high flow if I very from the stock logs at all.
Any thoughts on the 76 head swap?

Most iron BB heads flow pretty close and have open chambers and as said the 76's would have hardened seats (& hopefully no cracks as they do run very hot). No knowledge if there'd be a shrouding/bore issue used on a 361

I ran a 65 Sport Fury with a 383 (which probably has the same 516 heads as yours) with no problems. I'd stick with the stock heads as they are probably closed chamber and you'd lose a little compression going with a newer head.
