What color smoke? Since you replaced valve seals I'm thinking blue?
Yeah, blueish white smoke. The engine has about 75K on it, runs good, no distinctive miss. When I replaced to seals they where hard, but not crumbling apart like some I have done. I did them last week and drove the car to Carlisle Friday and Saturday, putting about 500 miles on it. It used about a Quart of oil in that amount of time.

Check for an intake leak. My Duster had the same issue, slight smoking and oil consumption numbers. There was only a quarter inch long crack in the passenger side gasket, near the bottom, just enough to pull oil. I put a new set on and no more smoke, still full of oil after 700 miles and running great. Just a thought.

Just did the intake gasket on my E58 the smoke problem is history
Was the gasket that bad that it sucked oil from inside the engine into the intake?

I can't speak for what happened on this E58, but that is more or less what happened to mine. It had a small crack on the right side gasket on the bottom. Presumably, when letting off the gas, it was pulling the oil through the crack and burning it through the exhaust and combustion chamber, thus causing the blue smoke and oil consumption. The vacuum was pulling oil out of the valley; there was slight discoloration in the corresponding intake runner.

Well at this point a set of intake gaskets is a cheap investment before I pop the heads off. Thanks for the suggestions Guys
