Hey guys I repainted my engine bay using 70' B5 blue. I'm trying to find out what color my super bee is painted as the color was changed to slightly darker blue. I noticed on alot of other spots the original color B5 blue is much lighter than the blue the car is now painted.
I painted the engine bay "Omni" B5 blue and it is much lighter than the body color of the car. I looked behind the rubber strip on the hood and the original paint matches this newly painted B5 blue that I just laid down, concluding my inkling that the color was changed.
I also looked in other various places under teh dash and down teh doors and it matches the lighter B5, and it is obvious this darker blue on the body is not B5.
Therefore does anybody have any ideas of what the body (fender of the car is painted)? Does is look like the darker Jamaica blue? Or is it the new B5 blue on the new chargers? The car was painted about 1-2 years ago.

Omni is a brand name. It's kind of a spin off of the PPG Deltron, but doesn't have anywhere near the amount of solids. That's why Deltron, B-5 blue, is $75.00 a quart, and Omni is $25.00 a quart. I have a quart of Deltron, or Delstar, which is Acrylic Enamel, B-7 Blue. Haven't looked at in sometime, so I'm not exactly sure which one it is. If you're interested, shoot me an e-mail at beewagon69@yahoo.com, and I'll have a look see and make sure which one it is. I'd be happy to donate it for your engine bay, as long as you pay for shipping. Thanks, Bill

Hey guys Thanks for the help!
I got in contact with the previous owner and I found out that the car is the original color "B5" with some metallic added into it. So it is sort of a custom color. The guy said he doesn't have the paper work anymore, and the bodyshop is out of business.
What would be my course of action to get it matched?

Remember that B5 Changed for 1971 and was darker than the EB5 used in 1970. Sometimes the guy mixing paint may pick the wrong one or if the car was an early or late build then it might vary. Also, it's hard to tell true colors on the computer sometimes but the exterior body color does look dark like a B7. Here is a close-up of 1970 EB7. On my comupter, it looks very close to the color of your fender.

Thanks guys for the pics.
I'm going to take one of the hood scoops off the car and take it in tommorow for a computer color match. I don't need anything exact, but hopefully they'll get it close enough for the engine bay.

Dropped one of the hood scoops off at the paint shop. They said they'd do a custom color match for me. Old school style, said it would take up to 48 hours.
I'll post pics when I lay down the paint and let you guys know how it comes out.

If you are using OMNI, you will probably need 4 to 5 base coats for accurate coverage. I did my cuda in lemon twist a couple years ago and it took me 7 coats to get decent coverage. I will never use that paint again. It took me all day with waiting between coats, not to mention the extra thickness added to the paint on the car. It still seemed like it would look light/dark depending on the sun.
Restoring a car to look "only" as good as the factory made it is like getting a boob job for your wife and having the doctor make them two different sizes to seem more natural

Thanks for the pics guys. I got the car custom color matched by the local paint shop. It turned out very nice. I just shot the engine bay and underside of the hood.

some bad news, i've found out that someone had painted the ramcharger air box in the past judging by some of the orange peel i can see up close.
I've finished sanding most of it, but what color should I shoot it? hemi orange? vit c orange?
