Hi,
anyone know about door ajar switches on a challenger? I found a overhead console and starting wiring it into the 1970 challenger, and there are two leads for the 'door ajar switches'. it looks like they go to on the frame by the striker on both sides, but can't find where or what they look like. can't find tem for sale anywhere...do they exist? where do they go?any ideas where to find them?
thanks,
PHM

IIRC, they're identical to the front door switches.

Seems the would have wired them to the same switch, no?
There would have to be a "two pole" switch so that the dome light itself would operate seperately

Separate switches and different to boot. I haven't personally tried to find either but I hear the door ajar ones are tough to find. Good luck.

The harness you found is off a SE model. They came with a moulded headliner and an overhead console. The O.H. console had a "door ajar" light which was energized by a switch located on each door jamb about 4-6 inches lower than and perpendicular to the striker. The original O.H switch is not the same as the dome light switch, however one could be made to work. You are correct, one switch is located at the striker end and one at the hinge end.
