I'm taking my 360/727 from my Aspen wagon and going to put it in my '73 Satellite 318/904. Is there going to be a tranny mounting problem? Is the 727 longer than the 904?
Thanks for any help I can get!!

If it's the original 727 to the Aspen, yes, it will be too short in the Satellite. A/F tailshafts are shorter on all manual and automatic transmissions.

the 904 will bolt up just fine, but you will need a longer drive shaft , I used one from a 6/904 combo in my corronet..sorry i do not know the correct legnth of the shaft or the trans but the 727 is a bit longer

The 727 is 4" longer than a 904 trans.

The 727 is a '67 housing, was previously in my '71 Dodge Demon with 360, went to the Aspen w/360.
SO< I'll have to get another tranny for this deal?

Wrong answer. All 727's are the same length and all 904's the same length and both use the same tail housing mount location until you start talking 4X4 truck or extended wheel base trucks and vans with split drive shafts.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

Sweet....if that is true, then I don't have to get another tranny. I'm not really worried about drive shaft length. Between the two I have, if it don't fit, there is always CUSTOM .
Thanks for the help.
I suspected it may be ok, the 727 went into the Aspen (where the original /6 904 resided) like a glove.

yes the 727 is longer but the length difference is in the tail shaft after the mount.
