The change im talking about is the "tubes" for the spark plugs. I know that there was a year Ma Mopar did away with them and used a regular style spark plug hole like most other engines.

The reason I ask is because the 72 Swinger im getting soon doesnt have the "tubes".Could this be a later engine or at least the cylinder head??

I believe it was around 75 or 76.

'75 was the first year for heads without the drool tubes.

It could also be the '81 and up hydraulic motor which had a different head than the '75-'80. The bottom rail of the valve cover is straight on the '60-80' heads, on the '81-'88 heads it has a little "step" that would be by the alternator bracket.
