Dumb question. I'm going to order some Wix filters on the group buy deal.

My '70 Roadrunner takes the full size Mopar filter. My '93 D150 takes the shorter Mopar filter with the full size base. But... assuming the full size filter fits (it does), is there any disadvantage to using the full size filter and just order one part number?

As long as it bolts on and clears use either one. I prefer the short ones over the long ones for ease of getting off/ on in a tight space

Me too - 51515 is all I use, plus it's easy to remember the part number.

Length--Fram-----Purolator--Wix

2.48"---PH3512---L10101------xxxxx
3.79"---PH16-----L14670-----51085
4.39"---PH43-----L20081-----51068
5.18"---PH8A-----L30001-----51515
6.98"---PH977A---L40017-----51773
All above are 3.25" in diameter

3.40"---PH3614---L10241-----51348
The above is 3.00" diameter (2.0 Neon filter)

I too think bigger is better.
I use Purolator L30001 on everything (Hemi, 440, 225) except my Neon which gets the L20081 because the L3001 hangs down below the oil pan.

Do you have a cross reference for Napa Gold filters for the Wix 51515 and Wix 51773?

ALL Napa gold filters are Wix. To get the Napa

number, just drop the first numeral from the

Wis number. Example; Wix 51515 = Napa 1515

Wix 51773 = Napa 1773.

Thanks. I googled "oil filter cross reference" and found out about dropping the first numeral.

I use the 51068 on my Neons and it even fits my 2.2. The 51515 was too long for the Neons, it was much lower than the oil pan so I use the 51068 now.

Just because a filters longer doesn't mean that it filters more or better. It's what's inside that counts! http://www.knizefamily.net/minimopar/oilfilters/index.html

I just picked up a pair of Napa Gold #1773 filters for my next oil change. I am using dual remote filters and am waiting on my Brad Penn 10 W 30 oil. The filters cost $10.50 a piece at Napa. Thanks for the info and cross reference chart.
