Hello. I bought a '72 Plymouth Satellite with a 400, a Holly Street Dominator intake, and an Edelbrock 1406 4BBL carburator.

My question has to do with the linkage. When I got it, the linkage was jury-rigged. When pressing on the gas pedal to WOT, the linkage would foul. (A no-good way.)

After looking around a bit, I found the part that Edelbrock makes (1481) which is supposed to extend the side of the throttle out about an inch or so. Unfortunately, this doesn't help at all.

The transmission kick-down is a one-piece, similar to what you'd see in any Chilton's manual where it lists a "V8 automatic linkage used with V8 single section throttle rod", but both the pics shown in my Chiltons' guides show that one-piece as being attached to a single barrel carb...or a two barrel car. (But most definitely not to a 4BBL.)

I took some shots of the carb, if you follow this link to my photobucket page, you can see how the linkages are cockeyed now.

So the question (finally) is, where do I find the brackets to move my throttle cable and my kick-down assembly that one inch or so to the left?

Thanks much, in advance, for any advice or assistance.

I'm sure the real experts will chime in, but you need the rear bracket (that bolts to the intake manifold bolts) from a 4 barrel car. This will move the mouting points for the accel cable and kickdown out about an inch.

I had a single piece kickdown rod that worked fine with the four barrel setup until I put it into an a body car. It wouldn't push all the way back without hitting the tunnel. With a lot of reshaping and lengthening the top by a bit, I finally got it to work. If I'd know how much work it was going to be, I would have bought the kickdown cable kit from Bouchillion (sp?).

move the flat bar to the insde of the rod on the bell crank and make the flat rod longer by about 1 1/4 inches

I used a spare flat bar and drilled and bolted it togethe the right lenght

take and bend the clamp that holds throttle cable up some to help aline it

may have to slid the throttle cable foward also and clamp on the black plastic a little to get the full travel

you just need a little moding and tinker ing with what I see in the pics

OH! looks like you need the stock throttle stud to go with the eddy/chrys thottle adaptor also, that from a 2-v shound be fine, the throttle cable mount on the short side pointing in towards the carb and the long side for the kick/rod

feel free to bend the whole bracket over toward the vc a little also

I run the same exact setup on my 71 Superbee

Eddy 800 with the Chrysler Adapter/Factory Throttle Stud - Holley Street Dominator Intake - And the factory one piece kickdown linkage

Yes its offset slightly , but i didnt have to bend anything and it works smooth and perfect

And like mentioned earlier ,you need the factory throttle stud
