i have a 90 318 hyd roller engine i just rebuilt and was center lineing the cam when i cheaked max valve lift it was only .301 lift at the lobe so 1.5 roller rockers 451 lift so this wount cut it. id like to put in one of my soild flat tapped cams in this engine.????????

.451 lift is not that far off from real good for a 318. You cannot just drop in solid lifters on a hydraulic cam They are diferent grinds (solid vs. hyd). If you change to a bigger cam, you will probably just make it a real dog off the line. I put a 270 with .490 lift in my old 318 and it was slower off the line and I had 4.30 gears. What are you trying to accomplish? ( street, strip or both). What car, trans and rear end ratio?

if your 318 oils thru the heads/shafts, you should not have any oiling problems going to solid lifters.

take a look and see if cam bearing #2 and #4 have holes in them to oil the heads...

you will probably need to change out the pushrods ....will need pushrods for adjustable rockers with solid cam....

The only problem that I can see is trying to use the wide oil band 273 solid lifters. They will with many cams uncover the oil band making a big problem. Just install it and have a look.

Sorry, I missed the cam & lifter part. The only issue is oiling and I am not a magnum block expert.

mags are hollow and shorter
