help truck stuck and it keeps losing power #84503

every time my truck starts and i put it in drive it loses all power. any ideas, and its a 400 with electronic ignition

My 77 w-200 did that once and the wiring harness was rubbing through behind the distributer against the firewall...

What happens if you put it in reverse or nuetral?
Are you losing electrical power or does the engine just die with the indicator lights still on??

Check your engine mounts and your cab mounts. I've heard many a tale of SB trucks actually knocking the dizzy cap off from the cab rocking on bad mounts...

little hard to knock the cap off.

does it just die (stall) or lose power? its starts back up right away?

i got it to grt power once so i started it, when i put it in drive it died and i aint had no power or anything since then.

I have knocked the cap off before. You dont knock it all the way off you just bump it off center on the dizzy.
