I just installed a new MP (RB) distributor. I was expecting all the mechanical advance in by no more than 2500 but it more like 3000-3500. The springs are one light, one heavy (or at least heavier). Are two lights likely to get me all in by 2000?
Anybody run only ONE spring?
If it's a new MP distributor it will have the Mallory advance mechanism in it. You can pick up a Mallory distributor tuning kit #29014 from Summit or Jegs that will come with an assortment of springs and spacers for setting the advance stops. The kit also has charts that show the advance curves with the different springs.
Don't know if the previously posted chart would apply to one of the Mallory made distributors.
