I'm trying to adjust my carb and noticed that the part that is connected to the exhaust manifold was binding. I took it off and went into napa but they couldn't identify it and couldn't order it. It's the part with a spring in it that when it heats up pulls the choke open. the guy at napa said it would be a harder part to find but who knows.

I think this is a write up of it I found at the /6 forums. http://www.slantsix.org/articles/choke-adjust/carb-info/choke-well.jpg

One part of the problem is that they can't find the part name and I don't know exactly what to call it either. They didn't see any similar pictures in the carb parts. The manual seems to change what it calls it in different locations.

Does anyone know where to order one? Is it worth it to take it apart, bend and sand it out till it doesn't bind? The connecting rod is pretty bent out of shape as well so thought I'd just try to pick up a new one.

It's called a choke thermostat. You'll be way ahead fixing the one you have.
