At what clamping force does a pressure plate become start to create a stiff pedal ?

I think it comes down to how much of a "man" are you,.......some guys complain about 2200 lbs!......I've been running a 3400 lb BorgBeck design in my Challenger T/A for the last 15 years,.....someguys can't even squeeze the pedal down on it.....they think I'm ......but I like it because the "hook-up" is awesome......but you have to beef up all the linkage system,....otherwise things start to shear!

My Daytona on the other hand has a Keisler TKO 5spd with a hydualic throwout w/ a 2800 lb Sachs B/B style......the pedal effort is almost non-exsistant.......the hydualic set up is nice, although you lose the "feel" that a "real" pedal gives you!.......I think your focus is best aimed at what your driveline needs are, what are the intended uses of the car,.....there are many set-ups to address any need?......so there's a lot of variables to your question,......everyones gonna have a different opinion on what to run?

It will be a hot street car, but the chassis is not set up for drag racing. It will never hook and I'm not getting a Dana anytime soon, but I do intend to wring the combination out as much as the 23 spline will let me.

A. 9.4:1 .484 cammed 383, 915 heads/DP4B, 1 7/8" hookers, 650 dp and 3.91 SG outback on in a 68 Roadrunner with lots of chassis stiffening and handling upgrades.

I tried driving a new civic si with a really touchy hydraulic clutch and I just couldn't launch or do much of anything right. I get in a 68 charger with a really stiff pressure plate combo and I can powershift and haul around with no issues.

You're probably a good candidate for something around 3400lbs, then.

Pedal can be gotten used to. I switched from power brakes to a big bore manual brake setup, thought about switching to something else after it first got in. Pedal doesn't seem even 'firm' anymore...you'll get used to it.

Haven't bought one in a long time, but the clutch disc that direct connection/mopar performance sold was a great piece too. Hooked hard and lasted at least for a hot street car.

My scamp has power brakes but I barely drove it.

I went right into driving my RR with manual brakes with no issues, but it was a manual brake car to begin with.

If you are looking for decent clamping force without the big pedal pressure, look into a Centerforce.
