I just switched a 318/ 904 to a 440/727
in my 68 Coronet.
The 440 has a RPM Performer intake,
used the stock throttle linkage with the AR Engineering kickdown. Bought Mancini Racing after market throttle cable 27"l cause the tall intake.
Now it seems like the pedal is too close to the floor. I dont like the feel. Feels like I have to push accelerator with tippy toes!!
We checked and the pedal and it does push the carb fully through its travel BUTTTT I dont like the pedal feel. not at all.
Seems like not enough length of cable from the inside firewall to the pedal so now keeps the pedal travel so low to the floor.
Yet my brake pedal is still high up.
feels unsafe.
Did i get incorrect cable?
is this how it will be now that I went to high Edelbrock RPM Performer intake?
Should I just order bone stock 440 throttle cable?? maybe that is the problem.

help-I am Confused .

you could try adjusting the cable on the kick down linkage mount, just undo the 7/16" nut and pull the cable away from the carb, this will bring the pedal up.

The pedal height is controlled by the distance of the outer shell in relation to the inner cable that hooks to the carb.
Slide it back for more height, be sure you are getting full throttle opening on the carb when you are done.
