Ive got a 68 runner, the seats have headrests on them, they arent the football shaped ones with the chrome band, they are a triangular shape...my question is are they original? I have the buld sheet for the car but dont see a headrest code...any help?

Should be a bench seat, headrests are what I'd call rectangular about the size of a brick tipped over on its long side, height-adjustable on 2 posts. Color should match the seat bolster color.

"Head restraints" were a $43.90 option for a front pair, or they could be ordered individually (right or left) for $21.95.

This is spot-on. The chrome-band headrests are not correct.

Chrome bands on bench seats came in 1970

Here are '69 bench seat "head restraints" (not "rests") as correctly pointed out by Steve/topside that AFAIK are identical to the '68 B-bodies. These are correct for a '68/69 B-body bench seat.

Since they are optional yes they would be coded on the broadcast sheet.

I'm thinking you might find them here if this is on your '68 broadcast sheet under "HEAD REST" (improper term BTW ) What do you think John?

That's the CONSOLE-SEATS-BELTS-FLOORING section, sorry I don't know the code for one or two head restraints, maybe someone else can chime in with the codes.

Order codes:

531 Left only
532 Right only
533 Rt & Lt

Yup, '68-'69 are the same. Replacement for the torn one shouldn't be too hard since they can be found in a wide variety of Mopars from that period. I think Legendary offers replacement covers. Always verify color accuracy by supplying a sample; I've seen some greens that aren't close to original.

That would be a no-brainer for me, safety first, whiplash is very painful from what I'm told. If I had them they'd stay for sure and that's a "rare" option for a '68 and a road runner to boot.

I've got a 68 Roadrunner, and have a 69 bench seat with head stoppers that look like the ones pictured above. I plan on using the seat and head stoppers....correct or not, because whiplash isn't any fun!

My 68 Road Runner has factory headrest. It is stamped on my broadcast sheet 5 times. They definitely didn't want to forget them.

My 68 GTX has headrest on both sides. Oddly, the 69 Charger SE my brother has doesn't have any, or a 69 Hemi Bee. Both of them were low miles, original cars.

I think head rests were standard somewhere mid-69, optional from there back.

There used to be a 67 GTX close to me that had factory headrests as well. car is long gone now.

Yep.

Statement is true if you say "(head rests) head restraints were (standard) MANDATORY (somewhere) mid- MODEL YEAR 1969 OR AS OF JANUARY 01, 1969, optional from there back."

Check Legendary. I think they carry the covers for the bench seat head rests.
