I've seen a few 318's with the 8 3/4...but I think they were all 727 equipped. Just poke your head under the rear of the car, and let us know if you see a diff cover or not.

There were very few E-Bodies built with the 8.25 rearend. Pretty much only /6 E-Bodies got the 8.25.

My brothers 73 Challenger which was an original 318/904 car has its original 8.75 rearend and my dad had a 74 Challenger 318 Rallye he bought new and it had a 8.75 rearend. Now most of the 8.75's in E-Bodies were open rears with the exceptions of Hi-Po BB cars and 340/360 cars but the 8.75 Suregrip was an option on all V8 E-Bodies.

My Satellite was an original 383 car... with an 8 1/4 rear end! Imagine my surprise!

The 8 1/4 is long gone now though.

I've had lots of 383-400 2barrel cars that had the 8.25 rear and found that the 4barrel rides usually got the 8.75. I still have a 1972 8 1/4 rear witha suregrip and the car was satellite 4dr with 400 tow package.
