Was wondering what your guys opinions were on these products? I was thinking of adding a bottle of something high quality -- like maybe Redline - to the tank on my 1970 every once in awhile.

Do these cleaners have any noticeable effect on a carburated car? (I've heard they are essential for EFI cars). Or has anyone heard about any damaging effects of using a cleaner/additive?

The Redline bottle says it cleans carbs and fuel lines... so I was just wondering if there's much truth to this.

Thanks a lot for your opinions!

-Stan

I've used Redline SL-1 many times over the years. In reading opinions on the net and the typical car mags it is considered to be very good. The other is Chevron Techron. This is the type of product thats pretty hard to tell if its working or not--kinda 'use it to be on the safe side'. I heard the patent finally expired on Techron (actually one key chemical compound in Techron) and now other fuel formulations, like Shell "V Power" now include it but the concentrations at the pump are so small that they may help prevent a problem from forming, but they sure aren't going to do much for injectors or passages that are already affected.
But the bottle of techron you buy at the parts stores IS strong stuff.

I use either/or in my Fuel Injected cars about once/twice a year.

I've used Redline in my other cars before without any problems. Seems like a good one. I've also heard a lot of people say they like Regane. So, either one should be Ok for you.

I've had good results with Techron and the Redline product. I run a dose through all our cars and truck every 10K miles.

Whats a mans car without hair on it? Rub it on your car twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening and peach fuzz should be seen growing at around 6 weeks. Important: avoid getting on the palms of your hands.
