Hi!

Im rebuilding a Sure Grip unit for an 8.75" rear end and Im replacing the clutches.

However it has been taken apart b4 and I want to make sure the clutches are installed in the proper order.

I have noticed they are not all the same, some are flat, some are concave, some are thicker some thinner.

Does anybody have a step by step guide on how to arrange them?

The shop manual I have has no info on that, neither the Chasis Mopar Bible.

Thanks

Domingo

I would like to know why the plate and disc are place differently from 8-3/4 and 9-1/4 9-3/4

Domingo, after you get all the clutch plates and steel plates arrange the way you want them make sure and use the axles installed all the way into the center of the posi and side gears(both sides at the same time )to align and hold the plates in place before and during when you tighten and torque the case bolts up Make sure the axles SLIP in and OUT easily before installing the posi and third member into the housing Trust me on this one

Excellent info. Thanks. Going through this same deal myself. The old 1967 FSM that I'm using shows how to arrange them.

I see the thrust buttons, which tend to fall out or get lost, are repro'd and sold on Ebay.
