This one puzzles me, It's been starting for momths now,Wouldn't crank somestimes was getting power to coil good ballast good ecu,Bought new moparperforemance distributor,Cranked for awhile then samething,Put new wiring harness on new orangebox new ballast new pickup,set airgap,Still would do it,Put an old distributor i had in thought it was fixed,THen today it did it finally got it started took the cap off wiggled the pickup, it started,cranks now,What could be causeing this? I thought ingnition switch but I'm getting power with key on,I even tried the gm pickup on it once still would do it

You say crank that means the starter isn't turning over. Do you mean it won't fire. Are you getting distributer power while cranking? The ignition has two power to the coil positions. One ignition terminal feeds the coil during start and the other feeds for run when you let go of the key.

How does the ground look like? might have to run another ground from the dist to body. I had a simlar problem with my 80 model dodge p/u kept shorting out the chrome box. added a new ground no more problem!

the ground problem may be severe. in that case run a 4+ ga. wire from the engine block , and let it drag along the ground, under the car. this ensures a good ground....

good for 2 mpg gain because of less resistance.

It's a 71 dart i've checked the grounds,there good,It turns over but won't start, even when it won't start i have power to coil but not firing from distb.Was look at my distb. today and the reluctor teeth look like there chewed up got my moparper.one out they look chewed to? Went to the zone got a rebuilt one teeth look chewed right out the box kid there said thats the way they are? IT wouldn't even start with the zone one.Took it back got one at o'reilys teeth look good starts right up but i'm not sure it's fixed i've been down this road before
