I found this nice 67 Coronet 440 for sale and once I looked at it I has to have it. It is a rust free CA car with a few dents on the passenger side. Has the original drivetrain in it (318 2bbl)and was owned by a fellow MOPARTS board member. I have been looking for the right car to put my 512 stroker motor into and this will be the one. I have stripped the original interior out of it and will post some progress pix along the way.

that's sweet! I'd drop the engine in the boday as is and have some fun for a while. better than worring about scratching fresh paint.

The color is going to stay as I like it too. I am thinking about doing the interior and cleaning up the engine bay and leave the body work for later as it not too serious.

Here is a pix of the floors; fantastic condtion for a 43 year old car. Just a little surface rust on the drivers side that should clean up nicely

My grandson came over today and we pulled the 318/904 out of the Coronet; 1st time it has been out of the car since new. Engine bay looks fairly good.

Looking good Larry. You mean the engine is coming back to Mn? Glad you're happy with the purchase of the car. While you're that far into it I'd check out the power steering box. That one always seemed a little over-sensitive to me but I never tried adjusting it. I had similar issues with the 67 Fury you looked at and finally changed out the steering box many years back.

Best wishes as winter sets in too quickly this year.

Larry

Larry, I plan on pulling the steering box as it was leaking a bit after I got it home. Now is the ideal time to take care of the little things. I am completely satisfied with this Coronet; as I disassemble it, I am amazed at the great shape it is in. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Well I pulled th leaking AC/Heater unit out; definitely a job with many battle scars and a few new swear words. Lots of holes to weld/plug.

The trunk was in remarkably good condition and kept that way by the previous owner. He sprayed the whole trunk with a rust preventative or undercoating. It took a lot of cleaning solvent to remove all of the tarry coats and with the exception of some minor surface rust around one of the drain holes; everything was rust free. I wiped down everything with naptha and sprayed it with a left over can of 620 medium copper that matched fairly well.

The passenger side floor had no rust at all but had a few bare spots to where the leaking heater core removed some of the paint. I had a little paint left over from the trunk and used it on the floor. The driver's side has some surface rust that I will need to remove, treat and paint before the carpet goes in.

New carpet and headliner; seats are still presentable. Maybe covers down the road. I ordered a headliner from Yearone and it came in very light color; no where near the sample I got. So I am either going to install it or have SMS do a corect color; only downside is that SMS is going to charge me 4 times what I paid Year one for their headliner...

Interior is close to being finished; new headliner, door panels and seats cleaned up nice with upholstery cleaner and a new dark saddle carpet. I pulled th instrument panel out, cleaned and got all of the lights to work. Installed a replacement front dash speaker and now the radio works. MOPAR MIKE is sending me some small items to complet the dash.
