A flat clean surface and a new gasket should cure your adapter leak. Oil pan leaks are normally caused because the lip of the pan is wavy or overtightened squeezing the gasket out. I use a dab of sealer in the corners only.

you can get a replacement kit from mopar performance for 35 dollars. Spend the money and get the new plate and gaskets. Just dont seal it with silicone.

This topic just popped up the other day. Like was said here either get a new adapter or do what was recommended and what I did for mine take one hammer and place it of the center of the adapter plate and give a few good hard whacks with another hammer. Felpro makes an orignal type thick gasket which is readily available and with it in place set the adapter on the block and look to see if the center of the plate is not touching the block. If its not tighten it up and you'll be good to go. NO SILICONE NEEDED. If the center touches with the new gasket beat it some more or get the previously mentioned new plate.

Felpro makes a hi tack sealant that is pretty good, just a hard thing to remove.

Yes it is among other things . I'd get a new plate,a new gasket set(3) pieces plus the thick fel pro one & substitute it in for the large round one, permatex #2 in the tube, clean everything perfect with small wire bristle brush. then comes then pan

DO NOT use a sealant. The factory didn't and you shouldn't either, especially a wholly inappropriate sealant like RTV.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

for the oil pan, I used a one-peice oil pan gasket. I think it was a SCE brand. It is a rebber gasket with metal washers? around the bolt holes so you can't overtighten the gasket.

For the oil filter adaptor, if it is the stock steel plate, makes sure the outer diameter contache the block before the center. Do not use a gasket under the center part of the plate, The only gasket needed is the outer one.

Make sure all the old gasket material is removed. A stiff wire wheel on a drill, or dremel tool works. Install the new gasket dry or with a thin Hi-tac cement. My personal preference is Indian Head gasket shalic, but is is simular to the Permatex Hi-Tack, just do not use RTV.

I have not used the 90-degree adaptor, so if you are using one put that info in the post. Sorry, I can't help on that one.

You shouldn`t need any sealer. I have two cars with the adapters and I have no leaks. Make sure that you snug the adapter down tight and make sure the bolt isn`t bottoming out. Get the gasket kit from mopar performance. It is only a few dollars IIRC. Mike
