I know this has been adressed before, but what is a good oil to run in a new motor with a high lift hydralic cam? Cam was broken in on the dyno but now motor has been sitting over a year.

Can't go wrong with Valvoline by my experience. I use 10W40 in most everything, except my Pilot, never had a problem.

With a flat tappet cam, a high zinc oil or zinc additive would greatly reduce the chance of failure.

My choice is diesel engine oil plus STP. The diesel engine oil has much more zinc than auto oil and the STP adds more. Both are readily available and reasonable in cost. Shell Rotella T is available in 10-30 and 15-40 at Walmart.
