Ramrod39 OP My New Title Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 9,106 Tucson, AZ	I know this has been adressed before, but what is a good oil to run in a new motor with a high lift hydralic cam? Cam was broken in on the dyno but now motor has been sitting over a year.

ahy master A Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 7,664 IN	With a flat tappet cam, a high zinc oil or zinc additive would greatly reduce the chance of failure. My choice is diesel engine oil plus STP. The diesel engine oil has much more zinc than auto oil and the STP adds more. Both are readily available and reasonable in cost. Shell Rotella T is available in 10-30 and 15-40 at Walmart.
