I just put a turn signal switch in my 65 Coronet to fix a no brake/turn light problem. I now have turn signal light on consant unless I switch off works on both sides. I have the left brake light but no right. Checked bulb/ground. The turn signal arrow on right of dash dont light is that a concern or it dont matter. Also I want to change the flasher but where is it I cant find it. Maybe why theres no turn flash. Also on the switch from herbs The diagram does not explain what to do with the purple and orange wire from the switch. Or the two off white wires from the dash . Not sure where to go with them yet. I assume the orange is the horn and the purple goes to console for reverse lights? Any pointers of where to go next would be appreciated.

turn signal switch has nothing to do with back up lights or the console. Yes there is a flasher.

Thanks , I know theres a flasher I can seem to find it under the dash. I think it may be out of car but dont see where it goes. It is the 3 prong canister style. Doesnt look like it goes on fuse block or back of dash? Can find where it goes. Any more thought always welcome.

Bear in mind that the flasher is simply a very low-capacity circuit breaker. When it heats up from the load of the bulbs, the breaker opens the circuit, cools down from no load, closes the circuit, and the cycle repeats.

This is what makes the lights flash.

Assuming that the wiring is correct, any of the turn signal bulbs coming on is an indication that a flasher [of unknown condition] is present. A missing flasher would cause an open circuit.

Although the lights may not flash [stay on solid] because of a bad flasher, they also won't flash if the circuit does not have enough load (e.g. not enough bulbs lit). Trace the non-working bulb issue (wiring, sockets, bulbs, grounds) before losing sleep over the flasher.

Down to just a blue car now.
