Has anybody tried one of those 1968 dodge charger reproduction grills and headlight doors through premier plastic reproductions. If so how does it fit and look. I need one bad but haven't heard anything about them.
Thanks Nathan.

Nate, I looked everywhere on that site and it looks fishy to me. No brick or stone address or ph# on the site. Nuff not said for me to buy. http://stores.premierplasticreproductions.com/Categories.bok

Originals were injection molded thermoplastic ABS plastic. The grills you've seen offered are made of a POURED castings made of two part Urethane casting resin. The molds were made by pouring silicone around an original grill. The mold shape is correct but the casting resin shrinks a bit resulting in a slightly smaller part (pretty much impossible to see without measuring it) however this can cause fitment problems. the biggest concern is durability, casting resin has completely different material characteristics as compared to injection molded ABS TP. Cast Urethane is nowhere near as heat resistant as ABS, a hot day in the sun can result in a sagging or melted part.

I Looked at the website and you are right there is no address. On there ad in the mopar magazine there is an address. 192 Industrial Blvd #112 Mckinney TX 75069. So you guys dont think this would be a good choice. Is there anybody else that makes a repro grill? Has anybody tried this premier reproductions grill. If so did it fit? Also has it cracked in the sun? Thanks guys for all the info.

Theres a guy on ebay selling the same ones. He keeps selling center sections for $400 and when i asked him about the full grill he said it was about 750 with the doors and no trim pieces/vacuum pods. Something sounds fishy to me. A perfect grill restored fetches almost 2500 and they are asking 1/4 that?

I just bought another grill and will restore it myself just like I did the last one before it got crunched in the center...Luckily they are 3 piece grilles unlike their 1970 counterparts...

I saw a prototype of one that Charger Specialties made using a 3D printer. These are made with a light activated ABS plastic which is much more dimensionally stable than poured cast Urethane resin. Other than injection molding (as originals were) this would be the next best option. I would contact them for more info before buying from anyone.

Thanks for the idea. I called charger specialties and the gal that worked there said they do not offer the grills. I guess the owner was working on one but didn't like how it turned out. So he put it on the back burner and has not touched it since. Maybe in the future but not now. I just wish somebody made I grill for this. I have one in my car but it is cracked and brittle Montana extreme -30 cold to hot 100's does this. It could be repaired. I guess maybe new is too good to be true. I just thought with everything comeing out for them, Somebody might make a good quality product.

Well I do grill repairs, if you fail to get what you need elsewhere I'll be happy to repair it, but I'll warn you, it's usually pretty expensive, they are complicated and doing OE type quality level work takes allot of labor hours. You'd have to ship it to me for an accurate quote but most are over 1K to fix depending on damage and older re-paint or repair efforts that often reveal themselves.

BTW, the grill you have is not likely cracked due to cold weather (ABS has a very wide temperature tolerance/range) but more likely due to vibrations, accidents, or degradation from UV exposure.
