I pulled a dana 60 from a 70 model 3/4 ton Dodge

I want to have it cut down to fit a b body.

I would like to use my b body axles...but I will need to buy a locker unit of some type for the dana, as it is a single track unit.

SO, can I buy a locker unit with the same spline as my b body axles?

If someone on here could email me a number so I can call, that would be great!! Thanks for the help

PLEASE email a reply to me : crittergtr@aol.com

Are you talking about 8 3/4 b-body axles? If so then you need to find a 30 spline power-lock suregrip.
Oh.... the dana has two different axle lengths.

I would contact DoctorDiff he has a good deal on axles plus he sells suregrips.

Someone needs to archive a truck dana 60 swap guideline. This question gets repeated like a broken record.

Best to contact Cass doc differential for parts and questions.

I just took a 79 dodge 3/4 ton truck d-60 to R&R speed in Huntsville Alabama.

200 to narrow
89 for moser mopar ends
7 bucks for perches
300 for a 35 spline powerlok
300 for moser 35 spline axles

Total was 971.52 including taxes, out the door. I had them make it stock e body width. They do any width. I had a 354 gear ratio in it already with 30 spline single track. 8 3/4 axles are 30 spline

Okay, here is what I came up with. If any of this doesnt sound correct, please could someone reply.
I have double measured everything, and checked things to details. NO cuts or welds have been made at this point. So here it is:

Measuring from the very center of the pinion shaft to the outer edge of the tube end cap on the drivers side should be: 28 3/4"

Measuring from the very center of the pinion shaft to the outer edge of the tube end cap on the pass side should be: 26 1/4"

Measureing from the outer edge on drivers side to the outer edge on the passenger side should be 55"

From the outer edge of end cap to the center of the hole on the spring perche should be 5.5"

The measurement from the center of spring perch to the center of opposite side spring perch should be 44"

If using a standard 8 3/4 B Body axle inside the cut down dana 60 assembly, the center differential should be a 30 spline application.

I am almost certain all my measurments are correct. Hopefully this information can be saved for future reference if the need arises.

Thanks guys!
Tony

If you want to yield a stock Mopar pinion offset, make the drivers side tube (and axle) 1 3/8" longer than the passenger's side.

If you are using equal length axles, both tubes should also be equal length.

Keep in mind, the axle end gap is 1.75" for Dana rearends and 1.5" for 8 3/4" rears. In other words, if you want to build a Dana around 8 3/4" axles, you need to make the Dana housing 1/4" wider than the 8 3/4" donor housing.

Thanks for the help on your reply!

You just answered a question I couldnt figure out.
So I just need to make my housing a 1/4 inch wider on each side than I have listed on my last pors to this topic?

Do I make it a 1/4 wider on each side, or an 1/8 on each side?

Would you mind to PM or email me a number I could call you at?
THANKS!
Tony
