My 1969 GTX came from the factory with AM radio and the rear seat speaker option. It had one speaker in front one in the left rear. It had a wire harness with a fader control, (pot), that plugged into the green and black wires from the radio. The radio will drive 2 speakers at least but doesn't have a lot of power. What I did was leave the stock radio in place and installed one of the secret audio radios from Custom Auto Sound. It drives a CD player and the latest ones have an MP3 input too. Take a look.
