Pete, mine was installed with the back and the front windshields in place! No problem.

I put mine in by myself with both the front and rear glass still in place, over the corse of a weekend.
First time I ever did it and it turn out very nice.
Might be easier with the window out, but I can verify
that it doesnt have to be out to install a headliner.
Just go slow and easy. Dont cut anything until you are sure it needs to be cut.
Cut the hole for the dome light last. I have seen way to
many do it yourself attempts where they have a big nasty
cut or gap next to the dome light where they didnt have it fully installed and cut the dome light area out. You can "fish" the wires out after its cut.

And another tip, go ahead and put the screws for the dome lights, visors, coat hooks, etc. in place before you install the headliner. After it's in, you can feel them through the headliner. It makes locating the screw holes and cutting the headliner easier and more accurate.

One other thing, when you're stretching your headliner and fastening it into place, be cognizant of the tension you end up with where the coat hooks (or lights)have to go. If you stretch it to tightly in those areas, it may wind up too tight once you install the hooks or lights. I hope that made sense.

Good luck - I'm sure it will turn out great.

Too bad you're not closer to me. I'd help you put it in for nothing.

You won't have any problems.

Do a search here or even google headliner or Restorick for some really good installation instructions...I used his instructions and am very happy with the way mine turned out, with the windshield and back window still in the car.

Does anything special need to be done for '69 (or even '68 or '70 for that matter) Chargers- particularly in the rear window area?

Thanks!
David

The rear corners are probably the hardest area to get right...
It can take a bit of stretching in a couple directions.
Also be sure that you have the short bow for those corners.
I remember doing a '70 Charger headliner for the original owner. He mentioned that the passenger side rear corner always "hung funny" and had a wrinkle. I found that corner never had a bow installed !
