I can't seem to find anyone that has replacement Trunk Extension Replacement Panels for a 68 Cuda. They have them for Darts, etc.

Am I just looking in the wrong place or are they not reproduced?

Any suggestions?

Love them 68 MOPARS! GTS 340 auto, Charger R/T 440 4-speed, Superbee 383 auto, GTX 440 auto, D100 (new front frame 5.7 hemi - in process), Formula S 340 4-Speed A/C (it's green), 383 auto Roadrunner (maybe a hemi - waiting) and a 68 W200 Power Wagon. Drivers: 07 Cummins and 14 Ecodiesel 4x4.

I dont think anyone makes them yet. I used the dart ones, about 15 years ago . But you have to rework them a little.
dont destroy the old ones where they meet the trunk panel,so you can use them as a guide/template.

Can you remember where they are different?

I have heard they are too short by about an inch. I just bought the dart ones so will find out soon.

I'll check it out tonight. The car is on a roto so it should be no problem.

And on this subject, WHAT trunk extensions are still sorely needed? Plus, which reproduction trunk extensions aren't worth a crap?

Okay here is what Laysons says:

Measures 31" long X 7-1/2" wide X 7" tall. Does not fit Duster, Demon, Dart Sport. These will fit for the 1967-69 Plymouth Barracuda Models but will require some modifications. They are aprox. 1" to short, so additional sheetmetal will need to be welded on, but gets you a good head start.

I took one out of the attic and matched it up as best I could. I probably should have pulled the replacement quarter panel skin out to do this but it would have been a pain so I just eyeballed it on the car. It is not an exact match. I believe the curvature of the wheelwell is off. It looks spot on on up at the top but short by about an inch on the bottom. They state that it is 1" short in the description but it looked pretty close vertically. Where it looked off by about an 1" was the horizontal(flat) surface that mates to the trunk floor. To me, it looks like it is about 1" to wide and this is especially true back by the tail panel. Well, it is not perfect but it is a start. Obviously, if you aren't into bodywork, this will be a challenge is this peice is not plug and play.

On the other question, I don't know about the trunk extensions that are not made, but I can tell you it sure would be appreciated if someone started making outer wheel wells for A-bodies.

Thanks for the info guys and thanks for your efforts. I guess I'll see how bad mine really are. Maybe buy some Dart ones and make them work.

For me, the positive is that it looks like the trunk floor part is okay. The negative is the passenger side by the wheelwell/quarter panel is toast about 1/2 back. The driver's side might be salvageable. Glad to help out!

Here is a picture of one I had to use a few years ago. I think it was from Layson's. It's laying with a lower section of 1/4 panel and the problems are obvious. Click on page 10.

Yep, that pretty much covers it. Only difference is it looks like you put it on in two sections(smart), and that is probably a must. It sure does look like it is an inch too long on the trunk floor. Did you trim it? If so, where as where it connects up to the trunk floor is where the tabs are for your exhaust if I am correct.

I bought outer wheelwells,(about 15 years ago)
they had them for 67-69 baracudas.I cant remeber where I got them. But I pretty sure that Goodmark made them. I dont think they sold very well, and I think they stopped making them.
May be if there was enough intrest they make them again.

Kirk, I did not use the top portion of the floor extensions. I opted not to because of 2 reasons. The repro's were WAY off in dimensions, and the originals were solid enough to save. The pieces pictured on page 10 are actually pieces I grafted into the right side. The small 1/4 section pictured was cut off of a right skin (Year One). I do remember that the trunk floor extension was made in Canada. You can see on page 5 ( http://www.clarkclassic.com/mygallery/index.asp?CatID=15&offset=32 )where the originals are still in place on either side of the missing trunk pan. I just cut away the vertical side portions of the extensions and added metal to the replacement panels to get the correct shape. The left outer wheel house lip I made out of the remaining rt. 1/4 lip. No outer wheel house was available at that time.
