Hello, I was curious are the wilwood brake kits for standard braking only? Or can they be used with a factory power brake system? Also is anyone use the pro kit on the street? http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/wiprostbrki.html Because Jegs suggests on their site not to use them on cars over 2800lbs. And I dont know many street mopars under 2800lbs. Thanks in advance

I wonder why they would say that. We have Wilwoods on a '69 B-body. Never had a problem with them. It's probably just a disclaimer, CYA type of thing.....

We didn't need a proprotioning valve due to manual brakes. I think you would need one for power brakes though.

Wilwood race brake kits do not have the seals around the pistons to keep dirt/moisture out. That is the main reason they are not sold for street use.

The kit for a 2800# car may not be a real good choice for the street either. You may find it doesn't stop you very well. Drag kits are made to be light, not stop fast. A power booster will help, but you may have rotor issues from heat.

The calipers don't care/know where the brake fluid is comming from, only how much pressure is being applied. You just need to make sure you have the correct sized MC piston for the Wilwood or any other calipers.

Also is anyone use the pro kit on the street?

The link you inserted is not for the race kit, it's for the street kit - notice the page title "Wilwood Pro Street Brake Kits"

That kit is for cars over 2800 lbs.

" All kits include either .81" thick x 10.75" or 11.75" diameter rotors."

I have the same kit with a 12.2" rotor upgrade from www.hotrodsusa.com I would suggest you give Dean at Hot Rods USA a call for info about the Wilwood kits. He's been selling them for years and has written some great brake articles. You can read his brake articles from the website. www.mpbrakes.com also has a very informative tech section.

I know alot of guys running Wilwoods on the street, MOST of those cars are over 2800 pounds without the driver!

I have the vented Wilwoods all 4 corners of my Coupe, everything bolted up pretty good.

Solid .320" thick rotors

The street kit will have vented .810" rotors.

It musta' been the street kit we used. It's been so long since we installed them that I don't remember, but I believe the street kit had the E-brake and we made sure we had that too.

Stopping power has been fantastic. I have never felt like there is a problem with braking. I'm not light on the gas so I feel confident the car will stop.
