yes the #is ph43 i think. but will the small 2.2 (3614) fit under 340 manifolds. i was just looking yesterday and it doesn't look like it would fit. i would love to get rid of that leaky 90 adapter.

I use the small 3614 (fram number) filter on every thing and there are a number of us that have used this for years rather than have a bunch of different filters around. Use clean oil and keep it changed regularly 2/3000miles and you will have no problem with it. There is also one that is slightly bigger but I can't remember the number off hand.
I wouldn't use the 3614 size filter that filter only holds a few ounces of oil and is likely bypassing much of the time. Every vehicle that I have ever had that used that size filter the first oil change I wnet to the largest filter that will fit.
A PH43 size (I use Motorcraft FL300) is the next step down from the PH8A size filter and it fits just fine on both my 360 with headers and my Dakota. There is another one that is still the larger diameter but is even shorter than the PH43 size filter it's a PH16 and is what they put on most vehicles when you have the oil changed at the dealer.

FWIW, I have the right-angle setup on a 340 and a 360; only problem I've ever had is that most rebuild kits don't give you all the gaskets you need for the adaptor, but they are available separately. Otherwise, I've never had a problem, my 65 Barracuda's had the right-angle setup since it was new, I know I'm an old poot, but it seems normal to me, and I'd rather run the bigger filter.
