I noticed that Summit lists the thier 440 cam will not fit a 1966/67 440. What was different in the 66/67 cam? I have a 440 built by someone else and the hydrolic lifter is compessed .150 inch off lobe (seems way too much). I'm used to chevys where we would expect about .030 inch colapse in the lifter. What would I do if a correction was needed to the push rod? Mike

The 66-67 440's used a pushrod with a different tip. All other 440's used the usual rounded tip, but the 66-67's used a pushrod with a tip that tapers narrower before comming to a point. They also used different lifters for those pushrods. To use any aftermarket cam in a 66-67 440 you must change to the newer style pushrods, summit sells some cheapies.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page, brandon has pics of both style pushrods. The 66-67 uses a longer pushrod than 68+, you don't want to try using longer/early pushrods with later style lifters, which is what all aftermarket cam kits come with.

yeah the 66-67' used tappered push rods. It will work just order a set of Summits push rods and you'll be fine.
