I need a bolt in, externally regulated 90-120 amp alternator for my 383. I had a Denso 120 on my RB but it doesn't seem to want to fit with the 383.
I don't care what it is, so long as it isn't based off a stock round back. I have a new Painless based wiring harness, and I've got a few important things to power (stereo system with amp, msd 6AL, high output headlights, fuel pump)
What are my options ?

I run a 140 amp powermaster based on a gm alt. Had to go the March serpintine route to keep v belt from slipping. This is however internally regulated. It will run 2 small Spal fans a mallory 250 pump and a class a amplifier.

Late-model, pre-magnum V8 alt's use a V-belt on what appears to be a Magnum-style Nipondenso alt. It looks like mounting those up would be pretty straight-forward, and they have a familiar 3-terminal hookup. Two for the external electronic regulator, one for the output. I'm using the Magnum serpentine setup on my Valiant, but it looks like the alt is the same except for the pulley. Hookup was a piece of cake. My alt is 90A, but larger units are a bolt-in. For my particular install, I robbed as much of the alt harness from a Ram van, and tweaked it to fit my Valiant. The Ram van harness is nice because it has a rigid terminal end with the output/field/ground ends fixed for the alt, and the output wire is like 4-ga piece with a quick disconnect. I run the output straight to the starter solenoid lug, which functions as a junction block to feed the interior and charge the battery.

I always liked the looks of this little alternator: For now I'm still using a reman 78 amp squareback from a late 70's Newport, and have had it for over 10 years. It's fine running down the road but after I put an electric fan on, it's really struggling at idle...even at an 1100 rpm idle it's really not up to snuff for low speed use at the moment. With a belt driven fan I never had a problem, even with a 250 fuel pump running constantly. Time for a change.

Where would you get one of those? Do you have a Part#. I would hate to go to an Arctic Cat dealer and say I want to look at all of your alternators.
Just notified me he can't get no more and I can see why - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Arctic-Ca...p3286.m20.l1116 found a used one on the 'bay' and wow look at the price they are new. Wonder what he was smoking when he quoted me a price.. Although I do know of the 2 I spoke of above.
