Finally back working on the body work on the 70 Challenger. Yesterday I was trying to smooth up the seam between the front bottom of the quarter panel and the rocker. It was leaded originally from the factory and a big gob of lead was left that actually bumped out from the surface. It appears the factory put little effort in making it level with the rocker/quarter. Anyway the bottom of the quarter where it curves under the door and meets the rocker isn't even close to being in line with the rest of the rocker. This is going to leave a bottom of door/rocker gap that is very uneven. Are all ebodies this way? How big should the gap be between the door and the rocker. When trying to line my doors up it seems the gap will have to be pretty big to get the top of the doors and the body lines to meet up. By the way this car has the original quarter panels and doors. Anybody got pics of their bottom door gaps?

Yeah, it's hopped up to over 160...

about 1/2 - 3/4 seems to be normal for some cars.

like you said - its more important to line up the top of the door and the body lines. so one has to live with the gap.

I checked all my Challengers when my body guy has complaining about the bottom gap. They vary a lot. My purple 440+6 passenger door must be near an inch near the front of the door.

My 70 Challenger convertible has about a half inch gap between the door and rockers (original quarters and doors). I too thought this is excessive, but that's what it ends up being when the body lines are lined up. My 70 340 Cuda, along with my 70 six pack Cuda, both have way less a gap, than my Challenger!

Amazing how an unchallenged lie can become the absolute truth.
