Is this a correct 1968 hood or a 1969 piece?

It is on my 1968 Plymouth GTX, however it came off of a different car. I was hoping it was a 1969 ram air hood. Just seems to have 'extra' holes and I was hoping they were original. They also have 'clips' along the hood inserts.

1969 Dodge Super Bee A12 (440 Six Pack, 4-speed, Dana 60 4.10)

1972 Plymouth Road Runner (400, 4-speed, 8.75" 3.23)

1974 Plymouth Duster 360 (360, 4-speed, 8.75" 3.23)

Looks to be a 68. The 69 has holes for the air grabber.

looks like a 69 hood that has been cut , a pic of the hood where the scoops mount would be nice ... with scoops removed nicer

If your GTX was a late '68 build, it could very well have come with a hood like that.
My late June RR has it, and it is original to the car.

The square plates I circled in red are on the '69 hoods, not the '68. The rubber bumpers that are mounted on the fenders rest against these when the hood is closed. The '68 hoods don't have them & the rubber bumpers are not mounted on the fender, but instead are mounted on the plate located at the inside corners of the upper radiator support & the inner fenders.

Those pads run fore and aft on my 69 RR not inboard outboard like the ones in the picture. Any guess as to why?

Last time this topic went rounds I wanted it to be posted in the archives, but that never happened. There are three early RR hoods early 68 all solid underframe, mid 68 rear corners cut like the 69's but solid under the inserts and 69 cut corners and also had cutouts under the inserts and the bumper supports pointed out earlier. 68 inserts bolt in a 69 hood but 69 inserts will NOT bolt into a 68 hood without cutting under the insert

John, no it's not. I went back to my old posts and found it.

John, I'd just like to clear up my side of this and all I ever noticed was the under hood difference and I think you were pointing out the fact where the topside "scoops" or inserts (with the engine callouts) were mounted on the late '68 hood would not accept '69 inserts without modifying the area where they are mounted. I hope I got that right?

What I saw different between early '68 underside hoods was the triangle shape on the early hood underside and the different stamping underside on the late '68 hoods that would accept the '69 Air Grabber duct work, and nothing to do with the top side inserts. You could never use an early '68 hood for the '69 Air Grabber duct work.

John, that was a good thread and maybe it will go into the archives?

Mike,
You got it, I also understand your point but have had so many tell me that late 68 hoods are the same as 69 and 68 hoods will accept 69 inserts.
The fastest way for me to tell them apart was the cutouts under the inserts that can be seen from under the hood with the inserts installed. I know those early 68 hoods without the corners cut are the hardest to find now. Glad you had the post saved and it should be archived as I have seen a few posts asking about RR hoods, thanks for posting it again.
