Have a repop trunk lid on 72 Cuda. It's higher on one side than the other on the rear. Anyone know tricks to align it right?

its the trunk spring set up. it torques the one side only, creating the lift on one side.

you can bend it (yourself or a body shop)

you can MOD it to accept differt alt stock pivots/hinges and have modern struts to stay open. i think they were using 80's honda strut stuff. some had just a shiny thin chrome pole.

You have to tweek it a bit.
I used a big 2 x 4 to give it a little persuasion.
I installed a new trunk weatherstrip, and it made the lid sit up a little high (1/16") too. Had some basement brinks sitting on it for over a month, no change.
Shaved the rubber bumppers down a little too, to see if it would help....not much.
Mine now sits about 1/32" high...best I could get.

i have not solved the problem.

if there are different positions, try to relieve the spring pressure twist, in a different notch.

other things could be up?

big Q-

does its do it with the spring removed?

I don't have a tool to remove the spring, but managed to get it off the lid bracket. It's real flimsy with the spring unhooked. It now sits almost equal.

Any way to get spring out without the tool? I think it still is interfering.

I got the spring out and it fits fairly well. Anyone have pics using struts?
