Charger go to www.moparchat.com then scroll down to & click on circle track chat then click on Sanborns cooling mods that are in a sticky at the top. When you are done reading ALL of the info that's there holler back & tell me what you "think"! RR

This is just my opinion, but all of the threads asking about over-heating and vapor lock and how come my car won't start when it's warm are all indicating owners who have never had an old car before. They are used to EFI computer controlled everything, and are not versed in the proper ways to operate a carb'd vehicle, and place way too much faith in the 30-40 year old factory gauges.
I am old enough to remember just how hot these cars ran when they were pretty new, and how frustrating it was to not be able to start your car after fueling it up at the station. Each one was different, and you had to "learn" it.
Well said. You are very right in what you say. We had to learn to read the conditions for every vehicle we drove and drive them accordingly. There was no computers or EFI's to regulate everything. You learned your vehicles or parked it.

thanks for the link Rapid it was very interesting! And after reading it I'm thinking that it has no or very little effect on the temp.
still let me reword my question. I'm not asking about over heating running bad not starting. I'm asking more along the lines of gage (aftermarketgage I wouldn't think of just trusting my 40yr old factory, although its very close) reading hotter / cooler between the two types of water pump housings.
