The quarter glass on my 71 Runner has a etched in bird so they need to be replaced. I have a nice set of glass from a 71 without roll down rear windows but the glass does not have the bracket bonded onto the glass like the roll down windows do. I believe the glass is the same, but how do I remove the bracket from the bad glass and bond the other to it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

I had the same situation on my truck. I needed the metal track taken off one window and put it on another. I took it to a glass shop. They charged around $10.

The glass shop sounds like a good idea.

I had to re-bond a steel channel to glass once. I used some glass bonding adhesive from the hardware store. It worked well after I tightened the channel for good mechanical grip to the glass.

A good coating of paint stripper on the old channels covered with plastic wrap would probably soften the old adhesive. Let it work for several hours.
